I can't tell if this is real or fake.

This is supposedly a trailer for a real movie. If it is it's already in the running for worst.movie.ever. If this is really David Carradine's last film that would be a real shame. He should be remembered for the Kill Bill films.
Since three of the cast of the Kill Bill films are in this film I wonder if it's some sort of joke trailer made by Tarantino?

This looks interesting.

I don't know if this movie is going to get a Canadian release, probably not, but I'd go see it.

I'm a sucker for this kinda film...

My favorite genre is science fiction and I hate to admit but I like the cheesy ones as well as the good ones. I can't quite decide which one Skyline is. It could be good like District 9 or a low rent version of Independence Day. I'm not sure how big a release it's getting, hopefully it will play here.

This trailer make no sense but looks cool.

The movie is directed by Zack Snyder who did 300 and Watchmen. I like the imagery but have no idea how it all compiles into a movie?!

I just spent an hour watching Trailers.

IFC.com has this really cool list of the 50 Best Movie Trailers. I watched quite a few of them. It's interesting to see how creative some of the older trailers were, some were practically short films. The trailer for Psycho was almost 7 minutes long?! Imagine how well that would go over these days when most trailers are 2 -2 /12 mins long.

#42 was the first trailer I thought of when I read about the list.

There are a couple I would have put on the list.

Needful Things: This is the only version I could find online but I'm almost sure there was a version using the same music but with no dialogue. I've always loved this piece of music and I remember going out to watch the trailer over and over again when it played in the theatre I was working projection at. I don't think I would have done that if it had the dialogue.

Needful Things (Trailer)

CLIFFHANGER: Again this isn't quite the right trailer. I'm pretty sure there was a trailer for this film edited to match almost perfectly with the same piece of music as the Needful Things trailer. I guess I'm either remembering things wrong or there are unusual versions of some of these trailers. There is a possibility they were Canada only trailers but I don't know if they would have made trailers for use just in Canada.

Upcoming Special Presentations.

We have a couple special things happening at Western Film I don't think I have mentioned on here.

Monday Mar 23rd at 7:00. We are having the London Premiere of a Canadian Film Pontypool, directed by Bruce McDonald (Hard Core Logo). Maple Pictures asked me to do the screening. Bruce was originally supposed to be here but had to cancel. It looks like a film that's a little hard to describe. The basic descrip would be several people trapped in a radio station by zombies but I doubt Bruce McDonald would make anything that simple.
Admission is free at the door.

Monday Mar 30th at 7pm. An advance screening of Seth Rogen's film Observe and Report courtesy of Warner Bros. This is being done as a charity screening through a sorority, I can't remember the name right now.
Tickets will be $5.00 at the door. Show up early for good seats! There is a possibility this one could sell out.
The original plan was for Seth Rogen to be here for the screening but that didn't happen. I'm almost happy the crowd control and security issues would have been a real pain.

It won't let me embed it but if you can watch the age restricted red-band trailer, it gives a much better idea of the film than the toned down one above.

Cool new trailer for Terminator Salvation

I haven't been too excited for the new Terminator film. The last one was good but nothing special. In many ways the new one looked like a transformers rip-off. About it's only saving grace was Christian Bale starring.

However the second full length trailer is out and I'm much more pumped now. This trailer gives a better idea what the story is than just a bunch of admittedly cool looking action sequences.

Hopefully the movie is as good as it looks.

You have got to be kidding?! Trailer for Crank 2.

I laughed all the way though this trailer and you know I'm gonna be first in line to see it. The sheer audacity of making a sequel to a film where the hero seem to pretty definitively die is enough, then they go and make the premise even more ridiculous than the first one.

Some people don't like him but one has to hand it to Jason Statham, not many actors could even come close to pulling this off.

Great New Trailer - The Proposal

This is an interesting trailer. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are two of my favorite actors so I'm looking forward to this. The trailer starts off kinda lame but gets going later. There's a joke involving mornings that made me laugh out loud here at home all by myself. That doesn't happen often. As long as all the best stuff isn't in the trailer this one should do well.

I hate when they don't play the right trailers!

I went to see Quantum of Solace tonight. One thing that was a bit of a story in the movie world was the new trailers that were supposed to show before it. The one I was most interested to see was the first full length trailer for the next Star Trek movie. There was also supposed to be the new Watchmen trailer, and I think the latest trailer for The Day The Earth Stood Still.

I was very disappointed, the Trek trailer wasn't there, there was no Watchmen trailer and the DTESS trailer was an older one.

I finally gave in and watched the Star Trek trailer online, I really wanted to see it on the big screen. I'm looking forward to the film, I've been a Star Trek fan since I was a kid. Got a bit out of it over the last while, never watched the last series but always watched the films.

That's my rant for the day.

Trailer for a Freaky Film.

This film has been getting a lot of buzz, I hope it makes it to Canada. The story sounds like something Hollywood couldn't make up but it's true.

A trailer for a film I'm looking forward to.

Below is the trailer for the new film from Charlie Kaufman who has written some of the most delightfully twisted movies in recent memory, maybe ever. He wrote Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich. This is his first time directing. In any case it should be an interesting film.

The film is called Synecdoche, New York, a title I'm not looking forward to making sure is spelled correctly when I do advertising the week Western Film plays it.

Bad Marketing for new Dane Cook film?

There's an interesting post over at Cinematical about the disparity between the poster for the upcoming Dane Cook / Kate Hudson film My Best Friend's Girl and the trailer. The poster makes it look like a fairly generic romantic comedy while the trailer makes it look like a funny but very adult film. Even Dane Cook doesn't like the poster. Some people really dislike Dane Cook but I like him, I guess I find him funny, most of the time. He can get a bit over the top.

So watch the trailer and let me know if you think you would be surprised if you went to see the film based on the poster.

Note: The trailer is a red-band trailer which means it contains naughty words and is NSFW.

Teaser trailer for Terminator Salvation!

This is one of my most anticipated films of 2009. The Terminator series has been great except maybe for the third one. It was good but nothing special. The first two are what I would call classics. I was a little nervous when I heard they were making a Fourth film until I heard Christian Bale had signed on to play John Connor. I figure he has enough pull and prestige to make sure it gets done right, I hope. There's a new teaser out that flashes images at you fast enough to induce seizures but still looks cool. I wonder if Arnie will make a cameo?

Trailer for The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Trailer for the remake of the classic 50's film starring Keanu Reeves. I'm curious to see how much they changed it. The original is very interesting but fairly slow. The title event is only a couple minutes of the film. The trailer for the new version shows they have obviously amped up the action a lot. Keanu should be good in this, it's the kind of role he seems to be able to do.

Yet another interesting trailer: Knowing

As anyone who reads this blog can tell, my favorite genre is Sci-fi. There's a new trailer for a movie called Knowing starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Alex Proyas who did Dark City and The Crow. This looks interesting. Hopefully it's better than the similar Nicolas Cage film Next, that sucked.

A film I saw in England that hasn't come out here.

As soon as I got to London I went to check out Leicester Square as everyone told me it was the place to go for cinemas. It turned out to have 4 big old movie palaces that had been plexed to varying degrees, the Empire, Vue and 2 Odeons, one of them the big one.

The first movie I went to was at the Vue. It looked like a cool theatre from the outside yet turned out to suck a bit on the inside. It had been very plexed up.

There was a film on the program I had never heard of called Flashbacks of a Fool. It turned out to be a British film with Daniel Craig AKA James Bond. He plays a older actor who has led an hedonistic lifestyle and pretty much alienated everyone. Most of the middle section of the film is exploring the character as a teenager then Craig is back for the final section of the film. It was a really interesting film. There's an old Roxy Music song (heard in the trailer and on the official site) that I was not familiar with in the film. The scene it was in I found really mesmerizing. It's now one of my favorite songs.

I haven't seen anything indicating when there might be a North American release. The official site seems to be UK specific. I have a feeling it'll end up going straight to DVD here even though it doesn't deserve it.

Trailer for new Bond film!!

The trailer for Quantum of Solace is finally out. A film version will apparently play before The Dark Knight. This film looks good. I was quite pleased with the reboot they did of the series. I just hope they can stop them for getting too outrageous like the Brosnan films or too silly like the Roger Moore films. Try watching A View to a Kill and not laughing at how bad it is.

The trailer is embedded below or there's a much higher quality version at the BBC.

Cool trailer for Eagle Eye starring Shia Labeouf

This is the new trailer for what looks like a cool thriller. Interesting idea, kinda takes part of the Matrix and expands it into a full-length film. I like trailers like this. It gives you a good idea what the film is about without saying too much. There's enough unconnected info to get you interested but not tell you the whole film.

For example: There's a intriguing line in this trailer along the lines of 'what if this is a distraction from something 50 times bigger' with no reference to what 'this' is. The opposite is a line in the trailer for 'Death Race ' along the lines of 'he knows we framed him' which gives away way too much info.

Enjoy the trailer, you'll have to wait until September to see the film.

Trailer for RocknRolla, Guy Ritchie's next film.

Just found this trailer for RocknRolla, the next movie from Guy Ritchie. Guy is commonly known as (in no particular order):
-The guy who directed Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
- the guy who's films started Jason Statham's career
-Mr. Madonna.

As I was watching the trailer I thought it looked like one of his films and then his name came up. I guess I was right. This film looks cool. I'll be there.

The trailer is embedded below or better quality at link above.
